LIBRA

Description

The wave got its name from its silhouette.
That soft, organic movement that meanders vertically or horizontally.

The luminaire is made of stained birch veneer, allowing the natural grain of the wood to live freely. The dark tone adds depth and warmth, while the curved shape breaks the austerity and creates a balance between precision and softness.

At 180 cm long and 20 cm wide, it stretches through the room like a line of light and materiality. It takes up space – but in a quiet way. It fills a wall without dominating it.

When the light is switched on, something subtle but powerful happens. The shadows behind it amplify the movement. The outline paints a secondary wave on the wall – a visual echo effect that makes the shape almost continue into the room and change depending on the angle from which you look at the fixture.

The name Libra is not just about what it looks like.
It's about the feeling it gives. A calm. A flow. A reminder that movement doesn't always have to be fast to be strong.

ABOUT ELENA

Elena Berg Österdahl (b. 1985) is a designer, craftswoman and artist based on Gotland, Sweden, her birthplace, and in Gryon, Switzerland. Educated at Jönköping Institute of Technology, with a bachelor's degree in product development in furniture design, knowing that she wanted to follow an artistic path, but with a technical foundation. Her education combined both theory and practice with a focus on the market, as well as projects taken directly from the furniture industry.

"I am driven by turning traditional concepts upside down and by the contrasts in form and material. "Imagine that from dirty metal you can create sheer shapes that seduce with stylish elegance!" Metal is also fascinating because it often needs to be "wrestled with", with strength and distinctiveness, but sometimes the softest hands are needed. It is alive and the most circular material on our planet. Patinated metal also tells a unique story. There is something melancholic in creating in a material that withers slowly, but still so visible: "Rust is the decaying process of metal, like a flower that withers!"
